Guffey Library Patron Appreciation Day

 

Everyone is cordially invited to Patron Appreciation Day at Guffey Library this Saturday, February 11, from Noon until 2:00 P.M. Taste finger foods, along with coffee, tea, or lemonade. Meet our new librarian, Holly Shipp, if you haven't had the chance yet, and learn the latest information from the library. You might even win a door prize!

 

This is also a perfect time to join the Friends or pay your yearly dues of $5.00. (The library will still be open for regular Saturday hours, 10:00 A.M until 2:00 P.M.)

To Whom It May Concern,


I wanted to make people aware that there is a new 'cancer camp for kids' opening up this summer in the hills of Guffey. It's a
non-profit organization called Nighthawk Ranch and it's owned by Tom and Dorothy Evans. There will be 3 week-long sessions and they are absolutely free to kids that qualify. For more information and to fill out an application (for campers, general& lead volunteers and nurse volunteers) go to

There are tons of activities planned, including horseback riding lessons from Justin Dunn's outfit out of Guffey.

These are the dates for the upcoming sessions:
1st session: Sunday, June 24 - Saturday, June 30 (all boys)
2nd session: Sunday, July 15th - Saturday, July 21st  (all girls)
3rd session: Sunday, August 5th - Saturday, August 11th  (all boys)

Please feel free to contact me. This camp/ranch is brand new so we are really trying to spread the word and to begin to get folks to sign up for our newsletter.

Computer Classes at the Library

 

If you would like to learn or brush up on your computer skills, Ryan Shipp, our young webmaster for the Friends of the Guffey Library website, is offering classes at the library. Currently the classes are meeting at the library on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 2:00-3:00 P.M. For updates on timing and content, check the Friends website ( friendsoftheguffeylibrary.org ). The classes are free, friendly, and never intimidating!

 

 

 

On-line courses from Universal Class are currently available free of charge to Park County Library card-holders who register. The classes include a great diversity of choice and, while serious, are meant for individual interests and enrichment, rather than for credit. If you are interested, ask at the library or check the Park County Libraries web site at parkcounty.colibraries.org and click on Online Resources. (You will need your library card number to sign up.)
